How to set up a community buying group

The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills has published practical information and advice on how to set up and run a collective purchasing or community buying group. It aims to help consumers combine their buying power to get better deals from shops and other suppliers. It includes case studies and is intended for groups of consumers operating on a not-for-profit basis.

  1. John Bennett says:

BIS have also launched The Buy Better Together Challenge which will provide funding to those who can tackle one of three challenges:

Challenge One: Project aimed at creating a platform, tool or vehicle to help individuals to come together and form a community buying group.

Challenge Two: Project aimed at enabling existing or new community groups to develop their purchasing power by working collectively on behalf of individual consumers.

Challenge Three: Project aimed at businesses to empower their employees or consumers to group for community buying.

But there’s not long left to apply – applications close on 15 May. More information at http://discuss.bis.gov.uk/buying/the-buy-better-together-challenge-feb-2012/
