Cooperative working can incorporate a wide range of different activities. But rather than choosing one or more of these activities as the route that Lambeth should follow, the Cooperative Council Commission were clear that cooperative working should be about following our principles of cooperative working.
If we follow these principles in designing and delivering public services in Lambeth there are many outcomes we may see as a result such as:
- Co-production of services where users, professionals and the local community have an equal role in the design and delivery of services
- Alternative delivery options, such as the creation of mutual or cooperative organisations where service users and residents have control
- Community-led commissioning, a new approach to deciding what services each neighbourhood needs and how they are delivered which is firmly controlled by local people
